Just got this brand new Soldano SLO and have been running it through the paces the past few days. This SLO has a 2007 serial number and no mods.
My R8 has a Rio Grande BBQ pickup in the bridge. I’m also using reverb from a Rocktron Intellifex LTD and a Bogner 2×12″ cab with WGS ET-65 speakers.

I think it’s just …
I think it’s just okay. I think the clean channels on the Landry and Diezel Einstein are nicer (especially the Landry!)
Of course, it’s totally usable, so don’t get me wrong.

Cool.. i think the …
Cool.. i think the Fralin PAF’s are the go then.. Have actually called them before with a few questions about putting their P92’s in a lefty guitar and their advice was stellar..
thanks for the advice mate..

I should also point …
I should also point out that I’ve compared my Fralin’s to my friends WB Firewaters and WCR Goodwoods and to be honest with you, I think I like the Fralins better. Plus, they’re less expensive than the other brands.

Thanks man! I’ve …
Thanks man! I’ve used the BBQ for a few years and I love it. It’s very thick and meaty! But I started to want something different a few months ago and decided to try a set of Fralins in the Les Paul (8k/9k set).
The Fralins are still thick, but not as dark or thick as the BBQ. It’s a good compromise. It’s not bright at all, but it’s just as thick I guess. The BBQ is so thick that some people don’t like them.

I hear what you’re …
I hear what you’re sayin… Less wattage definitely means less beefy and I agree you don’t “need” 100 watts for any gig really. Not even touring with Van Halen.
But yeah, there’s something about that “thump” you get from higher wattage amps. Even at lower volume settings. Gotta love ‘em!

for me i always …
for me i always thought that less watage just sounds better to me its less beefy and u dont need all of that watage unless your touring with van halen in my opinion

What is it you like …
What is it you like more about the Hot Rod 50+?
I did have a Hot Rod 50 many years ago and never bonded with it. But I liked different tones at that time. I’d probably like it nowadays.
