Another Les Paul Slow Blues
Okay, here’s another one. Like some of you said, back in business. Yep. Improvised this one on this great track. Email me to get the track (didn’t do it myself: will be doing stuff like this soon, when Protools becomes compatible with Leopard, it. Upgraded to Leopard (Mac OSX) before I knew it wasn’t compatible. Oh well. Anyway. Guitar here is a second hand 1960 Les Paul reissue (historic), a “Murphy” (Gibson ex-employee who weathered guitars i.e., make look old) “Yamano” (Japanese top-level retail chain who imported into Japan some of the finest piece of Gibson Les Pauls). Good guitar, a special reissue I have to say. Got this one at http://www.marksguitarloft.com/
Mark is a VERY knowledgeable man and VERY good seller. I highly recommend him and his place if you are SERIOUS about a serious Les Paul (oh it’s called GAS by the way, it’s a… disease!
).
Like Mark had pointed out to me, this particular guitar is VERY bright on its own. Like the real 50s used to be. Still keep stock (burstbuckers and 10s strings gauge). Will see what happens.

Ciao Solo, Thanks …
Ciao Solo, Thanks for the info. I’ve been playing for 40 years and I’ve never used stomp boxes either. I love the sound I get without them. My lead sound, however, is sometimes too smooth and mellow. I’d like a more crunchy sound like what you get. I play an ‘88 Les Paul on Mesa Boogie Mark I. The 88 has the Bill Lawrence PU’s. Maybe that’s the problem?

Dear Frank, sorry, my bad. Only after replying you the first time I realized I had confused the videos lol The description I refer to was on another video. Gear here: Marshall 1987X and this LP reissue R8 stock (no changes were made yet on this one). That’s it, no stomp boxes or processing. Thank you, SD

It would be cool if you would list the pedals and settings you’re using for this tune. This is a great tone! I don’t think a slow blues gets better tone than this!

I hear some Mike …
I hear some Mike Bloomfield slow blues licks in there. Did you study some of his licks for this tune? I know that one of AC/DC’s first inspirational albums was the first Paul Butterfield album and you are a big fan of AC/DC. May be you put them both together? I don’t know. I dig your tone and I dig your playing anyway..
