some lame tips, you rate it:
-Bigger Strings is more material for the strings to pickup.
-Nickel sounds dull but has better Harmonics.
-A Bone or aluminium nut is better since this emits vibration to the body better. ^Aluminium^ has a bright tone and ^bone^ has a warm.
-Pickup height determines the sweetspot so every pickup has a sweetspot so check it when plugged in.
-Electronics, if cheap. mostly kill your tone so replace them as well as the cables.
-TIGHTEN all bolts, lose parts absorb resonance hence killing sustain.
-Get your trem blocked, if you ain’t using it. One way is using heavier springs and the other is placing some wood between the back of the trem and body.(spring cavity)
-The last part before battery dies, Wood is natural and has a resonance. Wood likes to breath. SO sand of with a real light sanding paper.
WARNING: OWN RISK
The places you want to sand LIGHTLY are:
-Neckpocket
-under bridge (ON A TELE IS a MUST)
Better contact: bridge+body=TONE!
-pickup cavity
-spring cavity
HOWEVER THIS IS RADICAL…BE GENTLE…VERY GENTLE WITH YOUR NECK POCKET.
I think its Eric Johnson or some dude who does this to all of his guitars…TRY IT !
