This is an all original 1976 Vintage Les Paul Fire Burst Made at the Fujigen Gakki Factory. The sound is incredible with two Gotoh Humbuckers. The bridge Humbucker has the electro magnetic field shieding to keep magnetic flux lines central to the Humbucking twin coils and strings giving a hotter more direct sound. Ingenious in it’s engineering, folks, the Japanese have done it again. I say in this video that once you pick up one of these you’ll never want to play a Gibson again. And that was an under statement.. Gibson has put out many of fantastic Les Paul guitars, and I’m not prejudice. I’ve owned and played many. Gibson does an expert job and I must have gotton carried away when I had this baby in my hands. Listen to the crisp clean highs and bottom mid tones, a real rocker.. The Gibson Joe Bonamassa Ltd Edition VOS Les Paul uses a 2-piece chambered Mahogany body with a carved Maple top, this is complimented by a 1 piece Mahogany neck and a 22 fret Rosewood fretboard with Acrylic Trapezoidal fret inlays. At the bottom of the neck the bell-shaped truss rod cover bears the “BONAMASSA” name to identify this model as a Joe Bonamassa signature model. The headstock has an Ebony overlay with the standard gold Gibson logo and the traditional Les Paul “Open Book” shaped headstock - it’s also worth noting that the rear of the Gibson Les Paul Joe Bonamassa VOS has been finished in an Ebony gloss (Black) including the body, neck and rear of the headstock …
The pick-ups are a Burstbucker 2 and a Burstbucker 3 although from the Gibson specifications it is unclear at which positions they are located, they have also been suffixed with “R” (Burstbucker 2) and “T”(Burstbucker 3). There is no official explanation withiin the Gibson specs as to what this stands for, so I’m hazarding a guess that the “R” stands for “Regular” and the “T” for “Tapped” as in “Coil-Tapped” - I may be wrong but that was the only logical conclusion I could arrive at …The pick-ups are managed via the usual 2 x volume and 2 x tone rotary pots which incidentally use CTS pots and Bumble Bee capacitors and are joined by a 3 way toggle switch located as standard on the left hand shoulder of the instrument …
The hardware on this beautiful Gibson Les Paul guitar consists of an ABR-1 bridge - which incidentally comes without the retainer wire along with an Aluminium stop-bar tailpiece which along with the pick-up covers and Kluson style machine heads have all been Nickel plated. The black plastic scratchplate is adorned with a Gold “Custom” transfer indicating that this model was derived from the Gibson Custom Shop and the Gibson Joe Bonamassa Ltd Edition Les Paul VOS is finished in a delightful 3-tone “Bonamassaburst”…
