Singlecut Shootout: Chinese Les Paul vs American Les Paul vs Dean EVO w/ Mesa MARK V

By: admin
Published: November 18th, 2011

In this video we compare a Chinese Les Paul Custom vs 1991 Gibson Les Paul Custom (all Mahogany body) vs 1993 Gibson Les Paul Standard vs Dean Evo. The amplifier being used is a Mesa Boogie Mark V with a Rectifier cabinet using Vintage Celestion 30’s. We used a SURE Beta 58 for recording and hopefully YOUtube won’t compress it too much. We are no Rob Chappers or Phil X (both of whom you should subscribe to on youtube) but we give it our best shot to give you a idea on the different sounds from each guitar. PLEASE leave us your feedback, opinions, and questions! Remember, we are NEWBS at this so we know we did not play with perfect timing and there are some bum notes here and there but we are hoping you get a good comparison out of this if you are in the Market for a new single cut. I don’t want to sway your opinion but I will say that the Chinese guitar is NOT worth the $300. You then have to buy pickups, tuners, straighten the neck etc. and you still don’t have a guitar as nice as the Dean EVO, PRS SE or a decent Epiphone Les Paul. Thanks all and keep ROCKIN’!!!!!

BYOC Vintage Tone Bender Sample

By: admin
Published: October 18th, 2011

This is me playing the Build Your Own Clone Vintage Tonebender pedal that I built. I am playing the pedal with a Gibson Les Paul Standard through a Marshall JCM 2000 Dual Super Lead 40 watt tube combo. There’s no rhyme or reason to the video just me playing the guitar and pedal so you can get a feel what the finished product sounds like. Let me know what you think:)

Lester William Polsfuss (June 9, 1915 — August 12, 2009) known as Les Paul—was a great American jazz and country guitarist, songwriter and inventor. Today is his 96th birth day , again Google as a tribute to this great guitarist, is celebrating his birthday by making Les Paul’s Google doodle. Lester William Polsfuss (June 9, 1915 — August 12, 2009) known as Les Paul—was a great American jazz and country guitarist, songwriter and inventor.
People believe him as a pioneer in the development of electric guitar which made possible to “Rock and Roll”. Les Paul had also considered as inventor of many recording chords.
As I have heard Les Paul is not only just brilliant guitarist but also perfect Banjo & Harmonica Player. Les Paul is just a great guy in music history.

I think Les Paul Google doodle is the first such Google doodle which includes creation of music track on the web with clicks of your mouse. thanks to Google for creating such a Awesome Les Paul Google doodle.

Published: October 2nd, 2011

A demo of the Vintage WR100 Les Paul copy. Played through a Trucker 65w transistor bass combo! It sounds sweet as a nut (unlike my singing!) Just shows a great guitar sounds great no matter what you play it through. Big thanks to band mates Tim Clissold (drums) and Dr. Alex Sefke (bass). Our band Curate’s Egg is available for gigs all over the south west of England.

Stephens Design Vintage Lab ‘59JP-Royal Albert Hall 1959 PAF reproduction buckers!

By: admin
Published: September 30th, 2011

This set is an authentic back-engineered 1959 PAF set, capturing the tones heard in classic rock history, most notably at the Royal Albert Hall in 1970. In ‘59 and part of ‘60, the method of counting turns during winding the coils hit a bump for some unknown reason and many, but not all, pickups made then were overwound. Some hit as high as 9K, yet due to the design these pickups rarely suffered from being overly muddy.

This set will help you nail tones of any artist using a ‘59 Les Paul that had these overwound pickups. As with all my Vintage Lab PAF reproductions, these are the result of an 8 year journey to back-engineer and recreate the exact tones those pickups were peculiar for. They will give you an extremely close experience of playing pickups that now cost as much as $10,000 to buy in the vintage market. This set has gotten stellar customer reviews and some are saying this is the best of the VL PAF series. Remember, though, that to get these tones, you also need to make sure your wiring harness in your Les Paul, is as 50’s accurate as possible. Contact me through YouTube messaging or email and I will explain how to set your guitar up this way, it can be done cheaply or expensively with pretty much the same results. Enjoy!
Dave Stephens
