Epiphone’s premium Les Paul Tributes have offered the professional guitarist all the performance they need whether it’s on the road or in the studio. Now, Epiphone turns it up a notch by adding a gorgeous AAA Flame Maple top and new translucent colours…introducing the Les Paul Tribute Plus!
This Les Paul Tribute features a solid Mahogany back with a solid, carved hard Maple cap with Flame Maple veneer to create the ultimate combination of warmth and bite. Everyone knows that set-neck guitars provide the best rock tone and sustain and the Tribute Plus takes that to the next level featuring the original “deep set” neck joint. The solid Mahogany neck with hand-fitted, glued-in joint extends well into the neck pickup cavity creating maximum neck-to-body contact and acting almost like one continuous piece of wood. Combined with the Mahogany/Maple body, the result is a tribute to Les’ timeless guitar design with the sound that you can only get from a Les Paul.
The Les Paul Tribute Plus features the “1960’s” SlimTaper neck with a comfortable “D” shape that was introduced and made famous on many 1960’s era, Kalamazoo-made guitars from Gibson and Epiphone. This profile is thick enough to provide the stability and tone you want but thin enough to provide you with the comfort and speed you need. Capturing all the power and nuances of the Tribute Plus is a pair of authentic Gibson USA ‘57 Classic humbucking pickups. With its “Patent Applied For” decal on the base plate, the ‘57 Classic and ‘57 Classic Plus are faithful replicas of the famous Gibson humbuckers that helped define the music of the late 1950s. The ‘57 Classic gives you a tone that is warm and subtle with full, even response that doesn’t hold back when you need that classic Gibson humbucker crunch! The ‘57 Classic Plus is the perfect bridge pickup and mimics humbuckers of that era that received a few extra turns of wire. This treatment gives the pickup slighter higher output without sacrificing its rich, vintage tone. In combination, this pair of humbuckers overdrives tube preamps to a smooth level of saturation without becoming overpowering. Both ’57’s feature Gibson’s special Alnico II magnet, vintage enamel coated wire, nickel plated pole pieces, nickel slugs, maple spacers and vintage-style, braided wiring.
But this guitar is not just about recreating the “old”, it’s also about looking ahead… just as Les himself continued to do throughout his lifetime. Using 4-conductor pickup wiring, Epiphone has added two push/pull tone pots to allow for series/parallel pickup switching. The result is a Les Paul with huge pallette of tonal possibilities - from full-on, in your face humbuckers to quacky singlecoil-like sounds and everything in-between. Other upgrades include a U.S. Switchcraft(tm) 3-way toggle, Mallory-150 tone capacitors, Epiphone StrapLocks, 16:1 ratio premium Grover(tm) locking tuners and a premium hard case. This guitar is not only a tribute to Les Paul; it’s a tribute to just how good a guitar can be.

The fact that Gibson’s Les Paul Junior first went into production in 1954 and still thrives today is in itself pretty remarkable, given we live in a digital, gadget drenched environment where whistles and bells seem to rule. Clearly though, for some of us … ‘less is more’ which is why Epiphone have decided to create a Limited Edition Les Paul Junior depicted here in Trans Blue …
Aside from the Melody Maker I think ‘?m right in saying that the Les Paul Junior range is the most basic production model. You may well view this guitar as limited in its range and capabilities, however I think I may be able to convince you otherwise as I’ve played many gigs with one of these guitars. First off, what’s it made of and how’s it been assembled….
The body and neck are solid Mahogany with a Satin finish nitrocellulose lacquer over an eye catching Trans Blue finish. The Rosewood Fretboard carries 22 nickel silver alloy medium gauge frets and white dot markers to aid orientation, whilst on the headstock the machine heads are made by Grover. The single bridge position Alnico hum-bucker is operated via its volume and tone controls which just leaves a Vintage Style Wrap-around Bridge to finish off the appointments.
The beauty of the Epiphone Limited Edition Les Paul Junior is in its simplicity, its a design that has been popular for decades and still excites new generations of guitarists today, plus of course there’s the added advantage that the simpler the design - the less likely it is to go wrong …

Epiphone have announced the long-awaited successor to the Les Paul Ultra II - the Les Paul Ultra III. The Les Paul Ultra III is a Les Paul, and so much more! Incorporating classic design and modern technology, the Ultra III has features including a built-in Nanomag pickup, USB output, built in tuner and stereo output. The result is a Les Paul which has all the classic rock ‘n’ roll sounds you might expect from the Ultra III, but also a plethora of additional tones - an almost-infinite number in fact - that can be obtained by using different combinations of the normal Probucker magnetic pickups and the Nanomag pickup.

The Epiphone Les Paul 1959 Standard
In part 1 of the review i show the case and the guitar itself. Mention some features of the case and thats it. Don’t forget this is PART 1 of the review.
The case:
Brown exterior, pink interior, really well cushioned to provide the best protection for your instrument! There is an accessory compartment in the case (Length:18.5cm, Width:12cm, Depth: 5cm) which is great for tuners,plectrums , micro amps and short guitar leads/cables but not straps and long guitar leads/cables.
The guitar:
Mahogany body, rosewood fingerboard with pearloid “Trapezoid” inlays and 22 medium jumbo frets.
2 Gibson USA Bursbucker pickups (Humbuckers). Gibson Tuners (Vintage Style, “tulip” buttons).
The finish is just beautiful ,Faded Cherry Sunburst.
The Straplocks i use are Dunlops and are the best and safest in my opinion, it costs a bit more than all the other ones, it’s still not the most expensive, but it does what it has to do perfectly. Easy to install and I use them happily if we have concerts.
