Just a quick demo of my Laney TF200. Not a bad amp, and plenty loud enough for pub gigs, just not a good one either. The distortion channel is probably the best, as the overdrive channel is too fizzy for my tastes. Reverb is quite impressive, and the delay settings can be useful. If you get it at the right price, not bad, but the Marshall Valvestate are better, in my opinion, although they’re not great either. I have sold mine on, now. To be fiar, I am comparing it with some top end valve amps I have owned and used in the past. I used a budget Vintage Les Paul copy as this is the type of guitar that is going to be used with it.

Paul Reed Smith Custom 24 versus Gibson Les Paul Standard
-Cabinet: Custom built 4×12 Cab with Celestion Vintage 30 speakers.

-2 mics: Shure SM 57 + Shure Beta 58. The main is the sm57 (90%), and the beta gives only a touch of “headroom” to the sound (10%). Sm57 on axis at the side of the speaker cone. The Beta58 right next to it and off axis. I know it’s an unconvetional way to use the beta 58 (being a vocal mic) but it gives a little extra to the dry sound of the sm 57. And it makes the sound definately more natural, takes away of the tipical sm 57 character.

-Lexicon Omega Studio desktop recording studio (does a pretty great job)

-Macbook pro: Garageband for sound; iMovie for the rest. No effects, EQ, mastering.

This is a demo of a vintage 1959 Les Paul DC Junior through a 65amps Soho loaded with 2 celestion alnico blues.

No effects are used other than a very small amount of reverb, courtesy of a T-Rex Roomate. No post-recording editing or EQ.

The amp was recorded with one Shure SM57A Beta into a cheapish audio interface.

Just messing around at home, so sorry for the mistakes here and there!

Epiphone have announced the long-awaited successor to the Les Paul Ultra II - the Les Paul Ultra III. The Les Paul Ultra III is a Les Paul, and so much more! Incorporating classic design and modern technology, the Ultra III has features including a built-in Nanomag pickup, USB output, built in tuner and stereo output. The result is a Les Paul which has all the classic rock ‘n’ roll sounds you might expect from the Ultra III, but also a plethora of additional tones - an almost-infinite number in fact - that can be obtained by using different combinations of the normal Probucker magnetic pickups and the Nanomag pickup.

This is a hanbuilt replica of a 1959 Gibson Les Paul standard. A friend called Bernd Holzgruber, known for building world class acoustic guitars, built it for me.
This guitar is made to 59 specs including vintage correct: woods (honduras, brazilian), truss rod, inlays, headstock angle, neck angle, long tennon, hide glue, knob position, tailpiece and a delicios nitro finish. Rs Guitarworks electronics. Love this guitar. It sounds very resonant unplugged. I finally found this Tom Holmes Japan pickup set which finally gives this tone beauty it´s voice. I was asked to play some Jimmy Page stuff to demo the pickups. Here it is. I use a Throbak Stonebender and a T Rex Roommate Reverb plugged into a Marshall JCM 800 50 Watt Hi channel.
