    I red some of …
I red some of comments here.. It is wierd to judge a instrument for its weight, look or brand.. Its all about how it sounds I guess.. Obviously this instrument sounds great, it might be expensive or light, but this does not mean that its bad!!

yeah! a couple of my friends have the zakk wylde which they say is way beyond the average epiphone lp standard!! also i read somewhere that the epiphone lp customs and epiphone elistists are made in different areas of the world so i guess they get more attention than the standard production epiphone?? i’ve heard the zakk wylde epiphone and that does not sound like an epiphone!!!

LOL!!!! i saw the 97 joe perry signature les paul and wondered if they are ever going to make a les paul standard in that translucent black burst finish? i mean i saw them make a “gecko” burst a few years ago and i think i’m the only one that actually liked that finished! LOL!

    yess!!! my …
yess!!! my original ‘59 is almost 10 pounds!! when i checked out a 2009 gibson les paul standard, it was way lighter! about 7 pounds or so….. it’s weird with the lighter weight, doesn’t have that “real instrument” feel to it….

    sorry mate, i was …
sorry mate, i was speaking for me living in the us my whole life. i didn’t know how expensive it was in other countries, and you’re right if you’re in another country that sells gear that expensive. i’ve always saw gibsons being cheap (studios) in the us but never knew what it was priced in your country.. i always made the assumption people ordered online to have it shipped to their country for cheaper than buying in your local store. i’ve bought a squier for my nephew and he liked it alot!

I prefer personaly the 90s Les Pauls. I dont likke all this nonsense of hollowing it out. The old ones were built really strongly

    Im sorry,but i must …
Im sorry, but i must disagree. You shouldent buy a Gibson for any player who has newly started. As pokrmastr29 said in his comment youlle be wasting money. I think maybe start out on a Squier maybe.I would also like to note that money for guitars in the UK is about twice as much as it is in the US.Maybe over there u could start someone off on a Mexican Fender maybe.

    LOL!! yes they are …
LOL!! yes they are very beautiful!! and i’ll be honest with you, i’ve seen a lot of reissues from the past couple years that are very close to the original! one of my friends tried to trick me by putting his reissue and my lp in the same room and from far they both sort of look similar but not identical and the sound is almost there, something with aged wood that makes the guitar sounds different. my dad bought me this when i was a kid, so it’s always been with me!

Treasure that thing like a baby!! I was recently watching a video about the 59′ LP. Started foaming at the mouth. lol they’re just truly beautiful.

oh yeah, i get that …
oh yeah, i get that all the time that gibsons are too expensive etc… but i try to tell people look at my 59′ les pauls, both of them and the ‘60 les paul. they’ve lasted this long thanks to good materials, woods, craftmanship etc…… when i just got a lp custom oxblood, it was just as heavy as the ‘59, and the neck feels pretty good and i said the price i paid for it, it’s going to last a long time!

    Oh yeah I agree …
Oh yeah I agree with you! I started with an epiphone, three years into my learning and with spare cash I was looking for an upgrade. When I tried the 08 it just felt “right”, I def recommend the epis to anyone just not the very inexpensive models. Some people think Gibsons are overrated and over priced I def think they’re worth it.

    i’ve noticed the …
i’ve noticed the quality on the epiphones are way better now than it was a few years ago! i got my son a zakk wylde bullseyes epiphone and could believe the quality in it! and the elitists were also very good! but there’s always something about gibson that makes me feel right at home!!

    yes!! i agree with …
yes!! i agree with you!!! if you’re a begininer dont go out and buy a brand new gibson les paul custom oxblood and pay $4000!!! try a gibson les paul studio and work your way up!!! my orginal les paul ‘59 was the first guitar i ever bought (and it was way cheap compared to now!!) and my second one was a ‘60 les paul flametop. and even though they are old and beat up, i still love playing them! don’t know how i would sell them, too attached to them!! LOL!

    LOL!! actually yes …
LOL!! actually yes i do, but there’s a catch… when i took both of them to the vintage guitar store in my area, for a perfect condition one is about $690,000 or more… but that was about a year ago.. the price may have went up since then. the one i got from my grandpa is great condition, but there is alot of belt rash on the back but not through the wood or anything, and the old tuners i had replaced.. so i’m not getting full value for it… the other one that is mine is in bad shape,

I see where you are …
I see where you are coming from. However, I respectfully disagree. One should buy a guitar of this caliber if they truly love playing and will play it often. This guitar wouldn’t be the type you buy for your son/daughter who is just learning to play because if they end up not wanting to play then you just dropped $2,700 for no reason. A musician must love their instrument!
