Les Paul - The Inventor of the Electric Guitar
I’m building a Les Paul style Electric guitar from a kit. It has a whitish binding on it that I don’t want so I was wondering how do you rebind a guitar without having to take to a luthier???
It depends on how it was finished. if the finish is on top of the binding, you have to strip off the finish then remove and replace the binding. If you meant you didn’t want binding completely, removing the binding would be a bad idea because it is hard and you would be left with a large ridge that you would have to fill and if it has a see-through finish it will look very bad.
I am planning to get one of those because I have been advised away from a Squier Bullet Strat with my many questions about guitars XD.
Im into Avril Lavinge, Jonas Brothers, Aly & AJ, Fall Out Boy…you know stuff like that.
I also like a bit f heavy rock but most of all Im gonna concentrate on that type of music.
Is the Epiphone Les Paul type of guitar suited for those type of songs and music?
Also I like Paramore
All the genres that you can name.
I have until May to finish guitar lessons but my parents don’t know that I want a Les Paul. I just don’t want to be a showoff like Zakk Wylde and get a guitar for no reson.
im not sure if your asking if you should get one, or how to convince them but if you really love the guitar, then you should just sit down to seriously talk to them about getting one. if they dont know that you do, then you need to tell them- when theyre listening. talking really makes a difference! good luck
I have a les paul copy whose body is good but does not sound like a les paul. If I replace the pickups with those of a les paul’s will it sound like one finally? What if You replace the pickups of any other guitar with the les paul’s will it sound like it as well?
I don’t know what brand and model of guitar do you have, but if it has features like these. Replace the stock PUPs by Gibson’s PUPs and you would get LP’s sound.
1. Body must be a mahogany body. I don’t know do you similar to the wooden or not, but mahogany has their own smell. You can try with original LP. It would be great if your body is carved top and top with maple.
Gibson PUPs give alot of treble and mahogany delivers dull tone. They are the very good combination, but if your body is plywood or other woods. You will get lot of treble and its not LP sound any more.
2. Would be great if your guitar has a set in neck or neck thru construction. Original LP have set in neck. This will deliver great sustain.
3. Cables inside the guitar. If your guitar originall cost less than $ 800. I would recommend you to change all cables inside the guitar. Better quality of cable gives you great sound.
Hope this would help.
I want to find the difference and the tone of a telecaster, stratocaster, and les paul. Any place where I can hear clips of each side by side? No effects, all same amp, same playing type.on and on.

Most of the original hardware was changed out before I bought it. The truss rod cover says Gibson as opposed to Les Paul Standard or Custom, etc…… I know it isn’t a Studio or any of the cheap bolt on neck versions but that is about it. Any suggestions or helpful hints would be appreciated.
It also has the maple top.
I think it’s an Epiphone Custom or Studio.
I have a epiphone les paul and want that classic Dire Straits Brothers in Arms kind of sound. I need to know how to set up the guitar and amp is a 30watt vox amp and has a lot of different options on it.

In 1945, jazz guitarist and inventor Les Paul took his concept for a solid-body electric guitar to the Gibson guitar company. They turned him down and called the prototype a “broom-stick with a pickup on it”.
However, seven years later, the growing popularity of the Fender Telecaster prompted Gibson to introduce the Les Paul as it’s first solid-body guitar.
There are different stories about who designed what when it comes to the first models. However, once the dust settled, the result was a guitar that proved to be what the market was looking for.
In 1954, Gibson released the Les Paul Custom which sold for $325.00 and the Les Paul Junior that went for $99.50. Today, these guitars go for thousands of dollars.
The humbucker (aka PDF) pickup came into use in 1957. Engineer Seth Lover designed them to eliminate the hum and interference caused by single coil pickups.
In 1958, the cherry red sunburst Les Paul replaced the Les Paul Gold Top. The ‘bursts’ have become the most sought after and expensive Les Pauls of all time.
There have been many different models of the Gibson Les Paul electric guitar since it’s release in 1952 including the 2008 Robot model which tunes itself. In December 2008, Gibson took the Les Paul one step further with the introduction of the Dark Fire Les Paul-style digital guitar. The latest Les Pal digital guitar is the Dusk Tiger. What 2010 will bring remains to be seen with eagar anticipation.
However, no mater the changes and inovations, the one thing that remains constant is the Les Paul’s position as guitar of choice for some of the world’s greatest guitarists.
