This is a first attempt to get close to the Edge sound with a gear totally different from his. He’s known to use clean Fender Stratocaster + Vox AC30 to get cristal and bright tones, so the overdrive mode. I use my Epiphone Les Paul Black Beauty 3, with a Gibson Jimmy Page BurstBucker in the bridge, modded Marshall jcm600 in clean/overdrive modes, Boss DD-6 and crybaby wha. Something totally different! Anyway, the result is interesting. I use also very light strings (I’m a JP addicted) and picked them with the pick upside down to get a more “twangy” effect. I’ve always loved u2 and the edge sound since I was a boy and this video-pictures is a sort of homage to another guitar mith
Song played (with many errors!):
Bad
Where the streets have no name
The Fly
Bullet the blue sky
Beautiful Day (riff from verse)
I’ve still haven’t found what I’m looking for
Heartland
Pride (In the name of love)

This is a particularly nice playing burst. I filmed it up close to try to show the feeling of playing it more intimately, for the benefit of anyone who hasn’t had an opportunity to enjoy one of these fine instruments. Played at low volume, so the acoustic tone comes through, through a 1967 Marshall JTM45.
